I taught a one-day Modern Painting class
at the South Shore Art Center yesterday
to a group of mostly pastel painters.
I wasn’t sure how my approach would translate
to the medium,
but the results were amazing.
With limited time, we focused on the two most important elements in painting:
Value and Color.
Here are two examples of the
”Designing with Three Values”
exercise
Then we used black and white images
to reference a limited palette exercise.
Most used complementary colors.
I was fascinated with all the work and learned
so much about pastels
and how they are used.
Once again, I learn more when teaching
than the students!
