Nancy Colella’s oil paintings are an expression of the shapes and colors that reflect her beloved surroundings on the South Shore of Massachusetts.
Living at the beach in the summer, and in the woods in the winter, she is inspired by the architecture and interiors, captured in the ever-changing New England light. Her figurative works reflect her interest in capturing the human form in every day, leisurely activities. Nancy breaks up the subject matter into simple structural, value driven shapes, and puts them together like a puzzle. The goal is to create a dramatic expression that engages the viewer, one glance at a time.
“I paint to see what it will look like.”
